Your adventure with us

Sahaja is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘natural or spontaneous enlightenment.’ You can experience it through activities like yoga, dance, art, journaling, and meditation.

These Sahaja practices help you reach a calm, peaceful state called thoughtless awareness, or flow, where your mind quiets and you feel balanced and centered.

They also guide you to connect with your true self and inner strength, helping you discover your deepest wishes and what truly matters to you.

Meet the teachers

Mona, Andres, and Jess are connected through a shared love of movement and yoga. Mona met Jess at the very first Sahaja retreat she hosted, and the two later met Andres in South Africa last year. Now, the three of them are coming together to host their first retreat together, a collaboration that immediately felt natural and aligned.

Each brings a distinct quality to the team. Mona offers a holistic, philosophy-rooted approach to yoga; Andres brings playfulness and a strong sense of community; and Jess brings a deep focus on the mind-body connection. While each has their own unique strengths, they are united by a shared vision: to create meaningful spaces where people can move, connect, and feel truly at home.

Mona

Mona is an Austrian yoga teacher and the founder of Sahaja Retreats. For the past decade she has immersed herself in the world of health and wellness, always drawn to movement as a way to express herself and connect with her energy, creativity, and intuition. She has hosted over fifteen retreats and loves creating spaces where people feel safe, inspired, and deeply connected.

Her journey began at eighteen, when she traveled to Bali for her first yoga teacher training. Since then, she has explored yoga and healing around the world from advanced trainings in Mexico and Sweden to silent meditation retreats and studies in India. Mona’s greatest passion is bringing people together through yoga and movement. She believes in intuitive practice, in freeing ourselves from limitations, and in growing into the happiest, most authentic versions of who we are.

Andres

Andres is a Mexican yoga and wellness instructor based in Amsterdam, known for his energetic, supportive, and community-driven teaching style. His lifelong love of movement, from sports to organizing global events, naturally evolved into a deep passion for yoga, leading him to teach in Bali, Mexico City, London, and Amsterdam.

He describes his approach as “society yoga”: a playful mix of creativity, light-heartedness, and a touch of Mexican spice. His classes are uplifting yet grounding, designed to energize the body while creating space for awareness, joy, and connection. For Andres, yoga is a way of living with purpose. He loves holding space for people to move, grow, and reconnect with themselves, both on and off the mat.

Maro

Maro is a German yoga teacher and DJ who weaves movement, breath, and music into his classes. His practice invites you to tune in and experience the body from the inside out, supported by carefully created soundscapes that help create presence and flow. For Maro, music is not an addition but a bridge a natural part of how movement is experienced.

Yoga for Maro is a deeply personal and individual experience. It’s an ongoing process of going deeper and exploring yourself while staying light and curious. As a DJ and yoga teacher, he enjoys creating spaces where people can come together, experience themselves, and feel their connection to others. In his classes, Maro shares what he has truly lived and experienced, keeping his teaching honest, grounded, and real.

Jess

Jess is a South African yoga teacher whose love for movement began through professional dance at a young age. What started as a physical practice soon became a fascination with how movement shapes the way we think, feel, and experience the world.

Her journey began with a yoga and meditation training in Rishikesh, India, before continuing her studies in nervous system regulation and trauma release work in Bali and Sweden. She has since taught yoga around the world on superyachts and facilitated somatic movement workshops. For Jess, movement is a language, one that helps us slow down, listen to our bodies, and find a little more freedom, both on and off the mat.

Roos is a chef from the Netherlands who moved to Portugal a few years ago. Cooking runs in her blood and she always knew it was where her heart lies.

She started her catering business with a clear mission: to show that healthy food can be just as delicious and that eating as purely and naturally as possible truly matters. Her colourful dishes also give her the freedom to stay creative.

She loves creating spaces around the concept of a shared table and bringing people together to enjoy delicious food and each other’s company. This is exactly what she’s excited to bring to the Sahaja Retreat.
